This study aims to uncover the geometric properties of the letter Lam Alif in Kufi script, explore its semiotic potential, and develop a design approach that transforms this letter—from a textual unit into a three-dimensional spatial composition, while investigating its suitability for use in outdoor spaces, all while preserving the letter' iconic identity within a contemporary design framework. The study is realized through the design of an informational commemorative installation. The central question addressed in this research is: despite the diverse forms and applications of the Kufi letter Lam Alif, in many cases its use has remained tied to aesthetic or decorative aspects or to its textual function; nevertheless, there remains a need to examine the possibility of repositioning this letter as an independent semiotic sign in outdoor environments—one capable of integrating form, meaning, and function. The study concludes that the Kufi letter Lam Alif possesses distinctive structural and geometric characteristics that grant it a high degree of adaptability in transitioning from a textual unit to a three-dimensional spatial configuration, while simultaneously preserving its iconic identity. This finding suggests the potential for utilizing this letter in the creation of contemporary informational signage that seamlessly combines cultural identity, aesthetic value, and communicative function, thereby opening up new possibilities for developing Arabic script as an effective element in the design of public spaces..............
