Measurement of Activity concentrations levels of natural radionuclide in soil sample collected from Ajmail city, Libya

Abstract
In this work, we measured the activity concentrations of naturally radioactive materials in soil samples collected from 25 locations from Ajmail city on March 2021, which were measured by gamma ray spectrometry system using a High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector. The activity concentrations of natural radionuclides were varying from 5.01 to 23.35 Bq.kg-1 for 226Ra, for 40K vary from 61.42 to 251.42 Bq.kg-1, and for 232Th vary from 0.90 to 12.63 Bq.kg-1 The average of the concentration levels for all inspected nuclides are generally found to be lower than the assigned international radioactivity concentration levels [1]. Absorbed dose rates in air, and the Radium Equivalent Activity were calculated. The external and internal hazard index for the soil samples are also investigated.
